Celebrate safely
Safety Tips
There are important dos and don’ts when you buy, burst and store crackers. Follow these precautions every time, because a small slip in care can cause a serious injury.
Do’s
-
Follow instructions
Display fireworks only as the pack instructions say.
-
Outdoor use only
Use fireworks outdoors, never indoors or in closed spaces.
-
Use branded fireworks
Buy from authorised, reputed manufacturers only.
-
Keep a safe distance
Light one firework at a time, by one person. Others should watch from at least 20 feet away.
-
Follow safety marks
Always follow the safety tips printed on the fireworks.
-
Use agarbatti
Ignite with a long (about 2 feet) agarbatti, not a match or lighter in your hand.
-
Safe storage
Keep crackers in a cool, dry place, away from children, flame, and heat.
Don’ts
-
Do not make tricks
Never make your own fireworks or mix chemicals at home.
-
Do not relight
Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that did not ignite fully.
-
Do not carry it
Do not light crackers in your hands. Wear footwear and keep your face away.
-
Do not use glass or metal
Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers.
-
Do not throw
Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
-
Do not wear loose clothes
Loose clothing catches fire easily around sparks.
-
Do not touch leftovers
After the display, never pick up leftover fireworks. They may still ignite.
Celebrate with care. A safe festival is a happy festival.
